Our GPS (Growth-Professionalism-Success) Core Competency Framework provides a road map for success by articulating the skills to be mastered at each level of development, ranging from the fundamentals to the advanced.

Our training programs are facilitated both by Honigman partners and by external, national subject-matter experts. We provide Lateral Integration Partners to help accelerate lateral hires' integration into the Firm and provide support.

Each department maintains a unique training checklist that benchmarks both the substantive and business development skills necessary to be a successful Honigman attorney. Some of our recent trainings for experienced attorneys include:

  • Advanced Transactional Drafting
  • Communicate to Influence: Oral Advocacy and Presentation Skills
  • Negotiation Skills for Transactional Attorneys
  • Negotiation Skills for Litigators

Honigman's Department of Attorney Development & Recruitment also offers Executive Coaching for individualized career development. Coaching equips our attorneys to build on their strengths and neutralize "blind spots" that can compromise results and hinder success.

Our Offer

Each experienced attorney's unique background and experience are considered individually to arrive at a mutually satisfactory compensation package. We provide lateral attorneys with the same competitive benefits that we provide all other similarly situated attorneys, including the opportunity to participate in the home loan program.

Judicial Clerks

We are committed to recruiting and hiring judicial clerks because we recognize the unique and valuable experiences that judicial clerkships offer. These experiences enhance the distinguished law school records typical of judicial clerks and are strong indicators of success at our Firm. Many of our attorneys are former judicial clerks, including for the United States Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States District Courts.
