Overview

Jeremy Scherlinck is a partner and member of the firm’s corporate and private equity groups. He represents private equity funds, independent sponsors, founders, family offices, and large corporations in connection with acquisitions, divestitures, minority investments, restructurings, and other complex business transactions. Jeremy has closed hundreds of transactions across a wide range of industries and deal structures, with transaction sizes ranging from a few million dollars to over $1 billion.

Jeremy’s primary focus is representing private equity funds in platform acquisitions, add-on acquisitions, and platform and portfolio company dispositions across a broad spectrum of industries, including insurance brokerage, wealth management, accounting, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, industrial services, commercial contracting, and residential home services. He also handles M&A transactions in the legal services, software, transportation and logistics, and childcare sectors.

Jeremy has significant experience structuring and closing cross-border transactions involving both North American and global businesses, providing sophisticated international deal capabilities without the overhead of a large coastal firm. He also advises portfolio companies of private equity funds and other businesses with respect to day-to-day general corporate matters, as well as commercial and employment-related disputes.

Jeremy's clients value his straightforward, no-nonsense approach to getting deals done. He is known for cutting through complexity, keeping transactions on track, and delivering the kind of senior-level attention and responsiveness that clients value. His practice is built on long-term relationships with repeat clients who trust him to handle their most important transactions — and who know that a Midwest address has nothing to do with the caliber of legal work being delivered.

Prior to his legal career, Jeremy played professional minor-league hockey for the Iowa Stars (AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars), Wheeling Nailers (ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins), Idaho Steelheads (ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars), and Port Huron Flags (UHL) — an experience that instilled the competitiveness, discipline, and team-first mentality he brings to every deal.
