Julie Robertson is an insurance lawyer who concentrates her practice on alternative risk financing. She possesses over 20 years of experience in representing businesses, both taxable and tax-exempt, across the country in connection with their alternative risk programs.

  • Organizes and represents captive insurance companies, self-insurance programs, risk purchasing groups, rent-a-captives, and risk retention groups
  • Advises clients on legal aspects of feasibility studies and structural models for alternative risk programs
  • Counsels owners/sponsors of alternative risk financing arrangements on legal, regulatory, and strategic issues
  • Advises clients on insurance program structure, including excess coverage and reinsurance arrangements
  • Possesses extensive experience with captive insurance companies with multiple owners
  • Possesses experience with companies in the leading captive insurance domiciles
  • Advises captive boards on best practices, compliance, corporate governance, and strategic planning
  • Provides reviews and interpretations of insurance policies and analyses of questions of coverage
  • Lectures frequently on alternative risk programs at national and international conferences
  • Familiar with areas of healthcare law relevant to regulatory compliance of healthcare captive insurance companies and their owners
