Julie Reitz is an intellectual property attorney who provides business‑driven, strategic counsel to national and multinational companies, including several famous and globally recognized brands. - Trademark Prosecution and Portfolio Management: Managing domestic and international trademark portfolios; conducting worldwide search and clearance of marks and designs; preparing and prosecuting trademark and trade dress applications; responding to office actions; handling ex parte appeals; maintaining and renewing registrations; coordinating foreign applications and registration maintenance; preparing and recording assignments worldwide; managing domain name registrations; and preparing and filing U.S. copyright applications.
- Enforcement: Developing and managing comprehensive enforcement programs; handling pre‑litigation enforcement, including cease‑and‑desist strategies, follow‑up actions, and settlement negotiations; litigating before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in federal courts; defending trademarks against third‑party objections; coordinating cross‑border enforcement; conducting e‑commerce enforcement, including online marketplace takedowns and digital brand protection; arbitrating domain name disputes under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) and similar policies; and working with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), including recording and renewing trademarks, managing seizure notifications, and conducting training sessions for Customs officers to support anti‑counterfeiting efforts.
- Corporate and Commercial Transactions: Conducting due diligence and portfolio analysis for purchasers and sellers; negotiating and drafting trademark and copyright licenses, assignment agreements, consent and coexistence agreements, collaboration agreements, non‑disclosure agreements, security interest agreements, and IP warranties and disclosures for acquisition and purchase agreements.
- Client Counseling: Advising clients on cost‑effective filing strategies, proper trademark usage, infringement analysis, rights of privacy and publicity, and global brand protection planning; preparing trademark use guidelines and employee policies; and reviewing advertising and marketing materials for trademark and copyright concerns.
- Advertising and Marketing: Reviewing advertisements for trademark and copyright issues; advising on proper trademark usage and avoidance of third‑party risks; and handling sponsorship, product placement, and related licensing agreements.
