Honigman elects eleven attorneys to its board of directors

Honigman LLP is pleased to announce that eleven attorneys have been elected to serve four-year terms on the firm’s board of directors. Five attorneys are new to the board and six of the attorneys have previously served. Terms began January 1, 2022 and end December 31, 2025.

Newly Elected Board Members

Gabriel E. Bedoya is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department. He serves as Co-Leader of the Emerging Companies Group and is the firm’s Assistant Hiring Partner for Associates and Summer Associates. He concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation matters related to private equity litigation, securities litigation, and government investigations.

Kimberly A. Dudek is a Vice Chair of the firm’s Corporate Department. She focuses her practice on representing public and private companies with respect to corporate governance and general corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, private equity transactions and joint ventures.

Melissa R. Grim is a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department. She serves as leader of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group. She advises clients in connection with a wide range of employee benefits-related matters, including the employee benefits aspects of corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, divestitures, carve-outs, restructuring and ESOP transactions.

Chauncey C. Mayfield II is a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department and is the firm’s Hiring Partner for Associates and Summer Associates. He focuses his practice on representing entrepreneurs and private and public companies on a variety of matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, financings, commercial contract negotiations, supply-chain management, out of court restructurings, commercial bankruptcy, and general corporate law.

Alex Plakas is a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department. He serves as Co-Leader of the Private Equity Practice Group. He focuses his practice on representing private equity sponsors and public and private company clients in complex business transactions, including leveraged buyouts, strategic mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, growth equity investments, recapitalizations, executive compensation and equity incentive arrangements, and related general corporate and securities law counseling.

Re-elected Board Members

Michael D. DuBay is a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department. He serves as Co-Leader of the Private Equity Practice Group and is the firm’s Business Development Partner. He concentrates his practice on complex business transactions, with a particular focus on structuring and negotiating acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, mergers, joint ventures, recapitalizations, growth equity investments, restructurings, and workouts.

Nick Gorga is Vice Chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation matters related to securities litigation, private equity litigation, government investigations, and class action defense

Anessa Kramer is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department and is the firm’s Co-Lateral Hiring Partner. She focuses her practice on managing U.S. and global trademark enforcement work for a number of prominent and famous trademarks that are part of our everyday landscape. Anessa is particularly skilled in the implementation of cost-effective trademark clearance, procurement, and protection strategies, and she is widely recognized for her ability to tailor work to the specific needs of a client’s business.

Tracy T. Larsen is a Vice Chair of the firm’s Corporate Department. He serves as Co-Leader of the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group and Managing Partner of the Honigman Grand Rapids office. He focuses his practice on representing clients in a wide array of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, recapitalizations, and restructuring transactions. He has led hundreds of M&A transactions, both domestic and international, involving tens of billions of dollars in value.

Ilan Napchan is a partner in the Tax Practice Group in the firm’s Corporate Department. He focuses his practice on complex business transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, leverage buyouts, joint ventures, and recapitalizations. He has been the lead tax and structuring attorney on numerous private equity and M&A transactions ranging in size from several million dollars to more than one billion dollars.

Jonathan P. O'Brien, Ph.D., is Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department and a member of the firm’s Attorney Compensation Committee. He has more than 20 years of experience assisting domestic and multinational companies on global IP portfolio procurement and enforcement strategies. He offers a pragmatic business perspective and has successfully assisted clients with leveraging their IP portfolios by identifying improvements and solutions to minimize risks and maximize strengths while aligning the IP strategy with his clients’ business objectives.

Additional Members of the board who currently serve until December 31, 2023 are: Harris R. Eisenberg, David Foltyn (firm Chair and Chief Executive Officer), Joshua F. Opperer, Alex L. Parrish, Karen R. Pifer, Julie E. Robertson, Steven J. Rypma, Lowell D. Salesin, Alan S. Schwartz (firm Vice Chair), Bea Swedlow and Phillip D. Torrence. Non-equity Partner Auxiliary Members are: Mohamed Awan (new member serving two-year term), Maryam H. Karnib (continuing two-year term) and Laura J. Davis (continuing two-year term).
