Overview
Dr. Tal Becker, currently a Senior Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, is an internationally recognized expert on the Middle East.
As one of Israel's preeminent legal and policy experts, Dr. Becker served as the Chief Legal Adviser to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a senior member of multiple Israeli peace negotiation teams. Dr. Becker was a leading negotiator and drafter of the Abraham Accords among the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Israel.
As a diplomat and attorney, Dr. Becker has represented Israel before a variety of international institutions, including the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court and multiple United Nations bodies. He has unique experience as a negotiator and legal adviser in critical and complex bilateral and multilateral processes, and has served also as a Senior Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
Dr. Becker earned his doctorate from Columbia University, was honored with the Rabin Peace Prize, and received the 2007 Guggenheim Prize for his book Terrorism and the State.
