Abraham Accords Negotiator and International Law Expert Dr. Tal Becker Affiliates with Honigman Israel
DETROIT – Honigman LLP announced today that globally recognized international lawyer and Middle East policy expert Dr. Tal Becker has affiliated with the firm as Counsel to its Israel office.
Dr. Becker, currently a VP and Senior Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, is an expert on the Middle East and served as the Chief Legal Adviser to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dr. Becker has been a senior member of multiple Israeli peace negotiation teams and was a leading drafter of the Abraham Accords among Bahrain, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, and Israel.
Dr. Becker also was a Senior Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and has represented the State of Israel before numerous international bodies, and in critical and complex bilateral and multilateral negotiations.
Dr. Becker earned his doctorate from Columbia University, was honored with the Rabin Peace Prize, and received the 2007 Guggenheim Prize for his book Terrorism and the State.
“When we launched our Israel office, we did not project that in only a few short years we would have recruited to it nearly twenty exceptionally credentialed U.S. attorneys from Wall Street’s preeminent law firms,” said Josh Opperer, Honigman Vice Chair Elect. “But even if we had projected that level of success, we could not have anticipated the affiliation of Dr. Becker, whose perspective and pen were instrumental in the realization of a New Middle East. The Abraham Accords, which bear Becker’s indelible imprint, launched a new era of regional economic, scientific, and business collaboration.”
Opperer continued, “Dr. Becker’s international legal and diplomatic experience further solidifies our fast-growing Israel office and enables us to offer a unique perspective to current and prospective institutional clients from Dubai, to New York, to Tel Aviv.”
