Honigman recognized in the 2015 World Trademark Review 1000
Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn was recognized in the 2015 World Trademark Review 1000, a publication that acknowledges the top trademark firms and practitioners in more than 80 countries and U.S. states. Honigman was one of only six law firms recognized in the state of Michigan. In addition, Honigman partners Anessa Owen Kramer and Michael A. Lisi were individually recognized by the publication, two of only 12 attorneys acknowledged in Michigan. The international directory conducts research and interviews in compiling the list of firms and individuals who have been recognized as leaders in their fields.
Anessa Owen Kramer, a member of the firm’s Trademark and Copyright and IP Litigation practice groups, is “lauded for her prosecution prowess” and “she has also successfully implemented cost-effective brand management programs for a number of high-profile clients.” She also has experience advising clients on trademark enforcement and litigation, trade dress protection, dilution and anti-cybersquatting matters. Kramer has handled well over 100 U.S. trademark oppositions and has been involved with litigation matters throughout the country. She is frequently engaged to counsel clients on multi-jurisdictional trademark disputes, and is a regular speaker and author on trademark issues.
Kramer is a member of the International Trademark Association’s Famous and Well-Known Marks Committee and membership chair of the Michigan Intellectual Property American Inn of Court. She earned a J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School and a B.A., with honors, from Michigan State University.
Michael A. Lisi, leader of the firm’s Trademark and Copyright Practice Group, “impresses on both sides of the contentious/non-contentious divide; his experience of e-commerce operations and staunch defense of claims concerning IT agreements make him an obvious choice in the online sphere.” Lisi has more than 25 years of experience in trademark, copyright, domain name, e-commerce, trade secret, and related technology and intellectual property matters. Lisi develops and implements global brand management and enforcement strategies; negotiates and concludes license, joint venture, non-disclosure, transfer and related intellectual property agreements; searches, clears and registers trademarks on a global basis; and litigates trademark, copyright, unfair competition, passing off, dilution and misappropriation matters in U.S. and foreign jurisdictions.
Lisi is principal editor of the International Trademark Association’s Trademark Cancellations: International Practice and Procedures. He is also a U.S. chapter contributor to the publication and a member of INTA’s Publications Committee. In addition, he serves as legal counsel to the Sales and Marketing Council of the Motor & Equipment Remanufacturers Association. Lisi earned a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A., cum laude, from Carleton College.
