Phillip D. Torrence named emerging leader by M&A Advisors

Phillip D. Torrence, a partner at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, has been named an emerging leader in mergers and acquisitions and will receive a 2014 “40 under 40 M&A Advisor Recognition Award” in the legal advisor category. New York-based M&A Advisor is an organization that offers insights and intelligence on M&A activities and recognition to leaders in the industry. The panel of judges included distinguished leaders from national law firms, private equity firms and investment banks. Torrence will be honored at a special event on June 24, 2014 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.

He represents public and private companies in a wide range of industries, including the medical device and life-sciences industries and the banking sector. Torrence counsels public and private companies in initial public offerings (IPOs) and direct public offerings (DPOs), confidentially marketed public offerings (CMPOs), as well as debt or hybrid securities secondary offerings of equity. Torrence has handled more than 40 bank merger and acquisition transactions and handled more than 100 mergers and acquisitions in diverse industry sectors.

Torrence is Honigman’s office managing partner in Kalamazoo, chair of the firm’s Financial Institutions Practice, co-leader of its Securities and Corporate Governance Practice, a partner in its Corporate Department and a member of the firm’s board of directors.

He was honored by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2012 as one of 25 “Leaders in the Law.” He has also been named a Michigan Super Lawyer from 2009 through 2013 and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers in 2013. Torrence earned a J.D. from the University of Utah and a B.A. from Hope College.
