Overview
Nicholas Burandt is a litigation attorney who focuses on complex commercial litigation matters. His experience includes litigating cases involving civil fraud, breaches of contracts, antitrust violations, shareholder disputes, trade secret misappropriation, intellectual property infringement, environmental violations, and other high stakes business disputes in various state and federal courts throughout the country.
Nick brings a unique perspective to his cases having started his legal career as a law clerk for a federal district court judge. With that experience, he is positioned to assist clients at all stages of litigation, including, but not limited to, serving as first-chair in high stakes trials and arbitrations.
Nick is also actively involved in the community. He sits on the Associate Board of the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs. He also assists college and law school students in mock trial programs around the country.

- Drafted and argued appellate brief in Illinois Appellate Court; successfully reversed order declaring that client lost ownership in shares of engineering company.
- Successfully reversed trial court’s grant of preliminary injunction requiring client to sell shares of business to other 50% shareholder.
- First-chaired trial in breach of commercial lease action and successfully obtained seven-figure judgment for real estate developer.
- Assisted in negotiating an eight-figure settlement for private equity buyer in litigation in Delaware Chancery Court over fraudulent misrepresentations and breach of representations and warranties by private equity seller of marketing and advertising companies.
- Assisted in successfully drafting response to motion to dismiss in large antitrust dispute involving competing hospital systems.
- Obtained temporary restraining order from federal court against former employee for theft of trade secrets and breach of non-compete agreement.
- Managed and negotiated six-figure settlements in dozens of cases for packaging manufacturer.
- Assisted in obtaining preliminary injunctions against competing manufacturer that infringed client’s trademarks.
