Overview

Kory Steen is a high-stakes litigator and supply chain attorney. He often represents clients in state and federal courts and in arbitration, including before the American Arbitration Association (AAA), in matters such as breach of contract, tortious interference, and non-compete disputes. He also advises clients on commercial contract issues, including pricing, non-payment, and stop-shipment disputes and matters arising under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).

Kory also has significant experience defending clients against alleged environmental violations, including defending clients against claims made by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.

In addition to his significant experience counseling clients in supply chain and environmental matters, Kory has experience handling high-stakes litigations involving cryptocurrencies, securities fraud, RICO violations, and patent and trademark infringement.

Kory is often relied upon to act as local counsel in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan because of his federal clerkship experiences in that court.

  • Represented aftermarket automotive supplier in multimillion-dollar patent infringement lawsuit
  • Represented various business entities and company executives in high-stakes non-compete and non-solicitation actions
  • Defended against claims brought by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) under the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA)
  • Defended against Clean Air Act (CAA) claims brought by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • Represented buyers in a securities fraud case involving the widespread sale of cryptocurrencies
  • Successfully litigated a trademark infringement lawsuit that resulted in the defendant changing its branding
  • Successfully struck expert testimony in high-stakes patent and environmental litigations
  • Successfully litigated the dismissal of an international non-compete dispute from the United States on grounds on improper venue and forum non conveniens
