Statement on the passing of Judge Damon J. Keith
Honigman LLP mourns the loss of Damon J. Keith. For more than 50 years, he was a towering national figure in the law and the protection of American civil liberties.
His landmark decisions are part of the bedrock of our nation’s efforts to achieve a more just and equitable society. But he was much more than a great federal appellate judge.
A bridge builder, a patron of the arts, and a mentor, Judge Keith was also one of the most significant community leaders in Michigan—for decades.
He directly influenced many of our attorneys, including several such as Alex L. Parrish and Mallory L. Tomaro who served as his law clerks. But he inspired all of us, and we join with the rest of the nation in mourning the loss of this great American.
