Honigman Strengthens its IP Practice in Grand Rapids

Press Release

Honigman announced today that Weber Hsiao has joined the firm as a senior attorney in its Intellectual Property department and Patent practice group in the firm’s Grand Rapids office. His arrival follows the recent additions of IP partners Tim Flory and Peter Cummings, who joined the firm earlier this year.

Hsiao advises clients on a full range of IP matters, including IP protection and IP disputes, and counsels clients on IP due diligence in M&A transactions. He joins Honigman from Brown Rudnick LLP’s Boston office, where he focused his practice on medical and high-tech inventions.

“Weber’s knowledge of the advancements within the medical tech and high-tech fields makes him a perfect fit for our growing IP platform in Grand Rapids,” said Tracy Larsen, managing partner of Honigman’s Grand Rapids office. “Weber’s arrival is another great example of the high-caliber talent that the firm continues to attract from large money-center firms.”

Hsiao received his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 2006, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a B.S. in Biochemistry.

Hsiao is the sixth IP attorney to join the firm this year. With his arrival, Honigman now has 34 IP professionals in the greater West Michigan region, of which seven are based in Grand Rapids.

Since opening in 2016, Honigman’s Grand Rapids office has grown from two to 18 legal professionals. As a result, Honigman doubled its footprint within its 300 Ottawa Avenue location in January 2018.
