Tom Appledorn and Harold Fox Named New Co-Chairs of Honigman’s IP Department
Appledorn and Fox succeed Jonathan O’Brien, who will continue his role as the firm’s Vice Chair
Honigman announced Tom Appledorn and Harold Fox will succeed Jonathan O’Brien as Co-Chairs of the Intellectual Property (IP) Department. Tom will be stepping up from his prior role as Vice Chair of Honigman’s IP Department and Harold has led the firm’s Washington, DC office as Managing Partner, playing a key role in building and leading Honigman’s Life Sciences practice.
“Tom and Harold are thoughtful, strategic leaders who I’m confident will continue to make meaningful contributions to our firm in these roles,” said O’Brien. “Their visionary mindset and commitment to collaboration across offices and practices will further strengthen the IP Department’s national platform and strategic vision.”
Appledorn, who has been with the firm for more than two decades, has been deeply involved in firm leadership as Co-Managing Partner of the Bloomfield Hills office and as a member of the firm’s Operating Committee. Over his 20-year tenure, Appledorn has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor on matters involving technology, data privacy, and other complex technical issues. He is highly respected by colleagues across the firm and by legal professionals around the world for his insight, collaborative approach, and deep industry knowledge.
“I’ve grown my career and practice at Honigman, and I’m honored to step into this role and build upon the strong foundation Jonathan has established,” said Appledorn. “I look forward to working alongside Harold and our talented colleagues to drive continued growth and impact for our clients and partners in the IP Department.”
Since joining the firm in 2020, Fox has played an active role in firm leadership and culture-building initiatives. With nearly three decades of legal experience, Fox is known for delivering strategic counsel that translates complex scientific concepts into effective legal strategies. Focused on the Life Sciences industry, his dynamic practice helps clients protect and maximize the value of their intellectual property while supporting innovation, growth, and long-term success.
“I’m grateful to the firm and to Jonathan for the opportunity to take on this new role and continue partnering with such a dedicated and passionate team in our IP Department,” said Fox. “Together, we will focus on strengthening our practice and delivering meaningful results for our clients while exploring new opportunities for growth and innovation.”
