Jason Abel is an experienced trial lawyer, representing individuals and public and private companies in a wide variety of complex litigation before juries, judges, and arbitrators throughout the United States. 

  • Represents a range of clients, from Fortune 500 and Global 2000 companies to closely-held businesses, startups, and individual entrepreneurs
  • Successfully resolves high-stakes commercial litigation and arbitration, employing creative strategies to help minimize expense while maximizing results
  • Advises manufacturers and suppliers in various industries, including automotive and alternative energy, on contract disputes and high-stakes, emergency litigation involving injunctive relief to defuse supply disruptions and stop-ship threats
  • Represents property owners, developers and lenders in a variety of complex commercial real estate litigation matters, including condemnation and judicial foreclosure actions and disputes regarding breaches of purchase and sale obligations, rights of first refusal, easements, and lease and development agreements.

Representative Matters

  • Secured a bench trial victory on behalf of a financial services provider in a lawsuit filed by a former car dealer that alleged breach of various lending agreements and sought damages of more than $21 million
  • Secured a bench trial dismissal of $14.5 million claim for fraud and negligence in complex real estate dispute
  • Won a multi-million dollar bench trial dismissal at close of plaintiffs’ case for claim for agency liability
  • Obtained jury verdict of 1.8 million in favor of commercial tenant evicted from property in violation of lease
  • Successfully negotiated the resolution of shareholder disputes regarding several multi-million dollar business enterprises 
  • Served as lead counsel on numerous jury and bench trials in Oakland County Circuit Court, Wayne County Circuit Court, and federal and state courts across the nation
  • Achieved favorable judgments in numerous property disputes on behalf of various financial institutions
  • Obtained dismissal of international federal contract dispute involving automotive industry suppliers
  • Advised public company focused on alternative energy on various intellectual property matters and pre-litigation and litigation strategy
  • Negotiated pre-answer dismissal of multistate dispute over corporate management and shareholders' rights
