Class Actions

The goal of Honigman’s Class Actions practice is to provide the best business solution, every time. Daunting in size and scope, a class action lawsuit can undermine your business by disrupting commercial activities; impugning your reputation in the marketplace; and shaking the confidence of customers, shareholders, investors, and lenders. The defense of such lawsuits requires business-driven solutions, not merely sound legal strategy.

Relying on the legal skills and practical knowledge we have gained in the defense of scores of class action lawsuits filed in courts around the country, we approach your situation with a rich understanding of your business, your industry, and the challenges presented by these unwelcome claims. Regardless of the nature of the claims asserted, we work to solve your problem, not just shepherd the case through the courts, and we do so in a fashion that maximizes value without compromising results. We have used cutting-edge strategies and aggressive litigation techniques to defeat class certification and to attack the viability of the underlying claims at the onset of a case. Where cases have not resolved early, we have successfully defended class actions through various stages of litigation from discovery to appeal to settlement.

Our depth and breadth of experience sets us apart from other firms. We have successfully defended clients in a wide breadth of industries, including automotive, publishing, chemical manufacturing and distribution, pharmaceutical, retail, consumer products, lime and mineral production, oil and chemical recycling, waste processing, telecommunications, securities, utilities, medical device manufacturing, finance and lending, commercial and residential construction, advertising, healthcare, and ice packaging.

We have served as lead counsel in multistate and multi-defendant class actions, as counsel in multi-district litigation, and as lead counsel in nationwide class actions. We have done so in dozens of courts throughout the U.S., including trial and appellate courts in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Tennessee.
