Stop AAPI Hate

Press Release

Last week, eight people (six women of Asian descent, a white woman and a white man) were murdered by a 21-year-old white man. This heinous, cold-blooded attack on innocent victims is yet another painful reminder of the racism, sexism and hate that plague our country.

According to Stop AAPI Hate, there were nearly 3,800 Anti-Asian hate incidents over the course of roughly a year during the pandemic. To make matters worse, 68% of the incidents were directed at women. The connection between racism and sexism, including stereotypes that perpetuate the notion that Asian women are meek and subservient, have been noted as a likely factor in the gender disparity in these hate incidents. The recent murders in Georgia are just a recent reminder of the violence directed towards Asians and Asian-Americans, in particular Asian and Asian-American women.

We stand in solidarity with our Asian-American friends, colleagues and community, and acknowledge the impact that discrimination, racism and hate violence has on their communities. In honor of our commitment to the AAPI community, the firm will be making a donation to Stop AAPI Hate.
