June Summers Haas quoted in The San Jose Mercury News, "Business Tax Comes Under Fire - Again," May 27, 2006

"I hear both sides from the business community," when it comes to eliminating the SBT, said June Summers Haas, a tax expert and partner at the Lansing law offices of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn.

"They've gotten used to the tax. ... (and) kind of figured out how it works for them," said Haas, who served as the state revenue commissioner from 1999-2002. "It has some down points, though. If you're a large business that's multistate, Michigan goes in its own box" because it's the only state with the SBT.

"There is some concern that it's a hurdle to businesses thinking of moving into the state," she said.
