Overview

Joe Sadler is a partner in the Litigation department who focuses his practice on business and insurance litigation matters and risk management. He is also experienced in trademark and copyright litigation as well as privacy and defamation matters. Joe has served as lead attorney for several high-profile consumer brands during trial and arbitration proceedings.

Experience

  • Served as trial counsel for Fortune 100 manufacturers in complex commercial disputes
  • Litigated multi-million dollar insurance bad faith claims for both policyholders and insurer clients
  • Handled trademark and copyright lawsuits in courts across the U.S., as well as TTAB registrations and oppositions
  • Served as lead litigation attorney for a leading luxury consumer brand, supervising Michigan lawsuits from 2010-2013
  • Formed and managed captive insurance companies and risk pools, and prepared incorporating documents, bylaws, policies, financing documents, reinsurance agreements, and associated contacts
  • Drafted surplus lines and exotic risk insurance policies, particularly in the political risk, cyber liability, and environmental risk contexts
