  • Drafted and advocated for the Non-Recourse Mortgage Loan Act, 2012 Public Act 67, which clarified a Michigan Court of Appeals opinion that, if allowed to stand by itself, would have placed all real estate developer private assets at risk in the event of any one development default; the Non-Recourse Mortgage Loan Act clarified the language for non-recourse loans and the specific exception for non-recourse carve-outs
  • Represented a power plant facility owner related to a tax classification matter and assisted with passage of 2012 Public Act 382, which addressed the penalty for failing to report the transfer of property to the local assessor under the General Property Tax Act
  • Advocated for passage of 2010 Public Act 61, which amended the state’s Insurance Code to provide certain requirements related to the takeover of a domestic insurance company with 200 employees or fewer, on behalf of a small, domestic insurance company facing an insufficient takeover offer that subsequently received a higher buyout offer after passage of the bill
  • Assisted a Michigan-based retail real estate developer family who was threatened by an out-of-state corporate takeover by drafting and advocating for the passage of 2003 Public Act 181, which amended the Business Corporation Act and allowed the family to use their “control shares” to vote, thereby preventing a hostile takeover
