Jason Abel is an experienced trial lawyer, representing individuals and public and private companies in a wide variety of complex litigation before juries, judges, and arbitrators throughout the United States. 

Jason focuses his practice on the following areas:

  • Commercial Litigation and Arbitration
    • Handles high-stakes commercial and corporate litigation and arbitration, including representing lenders, brokers, public companies, and shareholders in bet-the-company cases
  • Domestic and Family Law Disputes
    • Handles nonroutine matrimonial and divorce matters
    • Has specific experience representing high-net-worth clients and resolving international (expatriate) disputes and cases involving the valuation of complex assets, such as intellectual property
  • Intellectual Property Litigation
    • Defends and obtains injunctive and other relief for clients in trademark, copyright, and patent litigation in federal courts across the nation


  • Secured a bench trial victory on behalf of a financial services provider in a lawsuit filed by a former car dealer that alleged breach of various lending agreements and sought damages of more than $21 million
  • Secured a bench trial dismissal of $14.5 million claim for fraud and negligence
  • Won a multimillion-dollar bench trial dismissal at close of plaintiffs’ case for claim for agency liability
  • Obtained jury verdict, including attorneys’ fees, in 36th District Court action
  • Served as lead counsel on numerous jury and bench trials in Oakland County Circuit Court, Wayne County Circuit Court, and federal and state courts across the nation
  • Negotiated and advised clients regarding prenuptial and postnuptial agreements
  • Achieved favorable judgments in numerous property disputes on behalf of various financial institutions
  • Obtained dismissal of international federal contract dispute involving automotive industry suppliers
  • Advised public company focused on alternative energy on various intellectual property matters and pre-litigation and litigation strategy
  • Negotiated pre-answer dismissal of multistate dispute over corporate management and shareholders' rights
