Overview

Andrea Lee Linna is a health care lawyer and partner at Honigman. She focuses her practice on health care transactions and regulatory matters. Andrea has been quoted by CNBC and Crain’s. She has also given guest lectures on health care law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, University of Michigan School of Public Health, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 Andrea’s key areas of expertise include:

  • Telemedicine and digital health regulatory matters, including scope of practice, licensure, and contracting
  • HIPAA, including data breach notifications and investigations, policies and procedures, and business associate agreements
  • Stark law, Anti-Kickback statute, and False Claims Act compliance
  • Representing a variety of insurance and health care clients in start-up and organizational matters
  • Mergers, acquisitions, and sales of skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, senior living communities, home care, and hospice

Representative Matters

  • Counseled a national nonprofit healthcare system in the sale of three skilled nursing facilities and two hospices
  • Acted as health care regulatory counsel for a private equity fund in the acquisition of dermatology practices nationwide
  • Represented a regional hospice agency in the sale to a national chain
  • Acted as local counsel for the acquisition of a senior housing facility, including independent living, assisted living, and memory care
  • Counseled a telemedicine start-up on state and federal health care regulatory requirements
  • Advised client on large HIPAA breach affecting more than 500 health care records
  • Extensive experience advising health care clients, including physician groups, laboratories, and others, on the Stark law, Anti-Kickback statute, and state fraud and abuse regulations
  • Assisted various health insurance companies and HMOs with entry into the Michigan market, including drafting applications for Certificates of Authority and various other regulatory approvals
