Overview

Dennis Muchmore is a professional member of Honigman and advises and provides assistance to clients as they navigate federal, state and local political and public policy issues. He is Co-Leader of the Government Relations and Regulatory Practice with more than 40 years of experience in the executive, legislative and regulatory process.  As a registered Federal and State lobbyist and a frequent guest on syndicated radio, he is often called on to comment on issues of the day and the consequences of political events.

He directly represents clients in governmental relations, which includes interaction with federal, state and local departments and agencies, legislative committees, elected and appointed legislative staff, political relationships, and participates in initiatives for trade associations and institutional clients.

Prior to joining Honigman, Dennis served as chief of staff for the State of Michigan's Governor Rick Snyder and managed the issues of the 19 state departments and some 47,000 employees.  His forty years in and out of government in a variety of roles and challenges gives him extensive knowledge of the inner workings of government.  As a professional Public Administrator with great respect for public employees on all levels, he continues to encourage and mentor young people in the pursuit of training and expertise.

Representative Matters

Many of the most complex infrastructure projects and endeavors have used his expertise and training on behalf of community and client interests.  Most notably he has been involved in such projects as the Gordie Howe International Bridge, the purchase and maintenance of the high speed AMTRAK rail line between Detroit and Indiana, the successful “Grand Bargain” enabling the City of Detroit to regain its financial footing, and the location and construction of Comerica Park among others.  Clients such as Detroit Renewable Energy, American House Senior Living, Immigration Centers of America, CNSI, Michigan Building Trades Council, Miller-Buckfire, USEcology are among some of his most visible clients.

Washington Lifetime Commitment to Conservation Award, the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Eastern Illinois University, the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the Michigan State University Public Administration Program, The Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award, the Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society recognition, and many others.

Professional & Community Involvement
