Megan Conlon McCulloch
Partner
Ms. McCulloch leverages her scientific background to efficiently and effectively bridge the gap between technical and legal issues and to find sound solutions to complex environmental issues. She possesses extensive experience in assisting clients in federal and state superfund proceedings, site investigation, environmental remediation and cleanups, brownfield redevelopment, and obtaining economic development incentives. She also counsels clients in environmental enforcement actions, litigation, compliance, and permitting as well as environmental due diligence in both corporate and real estate transactions.
Assists the Sediment Management Work Group, a national ad hoc industry group, with shaping public policy on contaminated sediment management issues at the federal and state levels
Advises clients facing significant remediation liability at contaminated sediment sites
Assists clients with obtaining Great Lakes Legacy Act funding for the remediation of contaminated sediment in Great Lakes areas of concern
Assists developer clients with obtaining brownfield redevelopment incentives, including tax increment financing reimbursements and tax credits
Represents clients in corporate and real estate transactions with environmental concerns
Research Experience:
Fish Assemblages and Landscape Position of Lakes in Boreal, Alberta for the University of Alberta:
Designed landscape-level study: collected and analyzed data on fish assemblages, water chemistry, lake morphometry, and surface connectivity
Modeled the predicted distribution of fish in lakes in Boreal, Alberta based on landscape-level features
Wrote masters thesis: "Predicting Fish Assemblages in Small, Boreal Lakes in Alberta Using Landscape and Local Factors"
The Northern Lake Huron Bioreserve Project, Les Cheneaux, Michigan for the University of Michigan:
Helped design a fish survey of Great Lakes coastal marshes
Collected and analyzed data on the fish assemblages and human activity in the marshes
Wrote senior honors thesis: "A Pilot Study of Adult Fish Communities in Different Habitats in the Les Cheneaux Islands in Lake Huron"
Biological Station, Pellston, Michigan for the University of Michigan:
Performed a detailed lake survey of Lancaster Lake, Michigan, based on biological, chemical and physical factors
Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Cancer Biology Laboratory for the University of Michigan:
Dissected tumor samples and grew them into cell lines
Prepared cell lines for experiments and for shipping
Taught medical students and post-doctoral researchers tissue culture technique
