February 12, 2007 Small Business Association Opposes Tax on Services
February 12, 2007The Small Business Association of Michigan has launched an online petition drive to oppose the Administration's proposed excise tax on services. The Association states that the small business tax is "nothing less than a sharp stake in the heart of the small business community." This sharp reaction comes before bills have even been introduced. Not surprisingly, the Senate Republicans have opposed this tax as well. The education community, which is exempted from the excise tax and will see some revenue increases, has uniformly endorsed the Governor's proposals. More to come as the tax reform discussion ramps up.
