Honigman’s Stanley H. Pitts appointed to State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness Committee

Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP is pleased to announce that Stanley H. Pitts, a Partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Department, has been appointed to the State Bar of Michigan’s District H (Wayne, Monroe and Lenawee Counties) Character and Fitness Committee for a two-year renewable term. The Committee is charged with investigating and determining whether applicants for admission to the Bar meet its character and fitness qualifications.

Pitts is an experienced litigator whose practice primarily includes defending employers confronted with federal and state agency charges of unlawful employment discrimination, employee litigation involving federal and state anti-discrimination laws, whistleblower claims, family and medical leave act claims and other employment related claims. He also provides counseling to employers on various issues and topics, including disability-related inquiries, disability and religious accommodation, waivers and releases, reduction-in-force and severance agreements. His clients include national and regional employers.

In addition to his position on the District H Character and Fitness Committee, Pitts serves the State Bar as a member of a hearing panel for the Attorney Disciplinary Board, a member of the Labor and Employment section and a member of the Professional Ethics Committee.

Pitts earned a J.D. from the Wayne State University Law School and a B.S. in accounting from Wayne State University.
