Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP is pleased to announce that Lawrence D. Chambers states that McLaughlin is “the undisputed leader in Michigan’s real estate market, described by one client as ‘the best development attorney I have ever worked with.’ Both clients and peers offer unparalleled praise to his superb practice, particularly drawing attention to his skills as a ‘brilliant technician.’” Annually, Chambers rates law firms and individual attorneys by objectively surveying thousands of attorneys and their clients.

McLaughlin’s legal practice focuses on representing developers of commercial, industrial and residential real estate. He has more than 30 years of experience in acquisitions, land use, entitlements, development incentives, partnerships and joint ventures, financing, construction, leasing, taxation, sales, workouts and restructuring.

McLaughlin is one of only 13 attorneys in the country who has been named by Chambers as a Real Estate “star” this year. In 2010, Chambers said, “Real Estate titan Lawrence McLaughlin is ‘a master technician’ who chairs the department and draws widespread acclaim from peers and clients. He has achieved a virtually incomparable profile in Michigan . . . Clients describe him as ‘one of the smartest legal minds out there. He excels at crafting innovative ways to get results in seemingly impossible situations.’ ” McLaughlin has also been recognized as a “Leading Individual Attorney” in Chambers in 2004 and 2006. His leadership as Chair of Honigman’s Real Estate Department has helped it achieve first tier ranking by Chambers for Real Estate in Michigan since 2004.

Some of his well-known projects include:
