Honigman welcomes Steven J. Rypma to its Real Estate Department

Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP (Honigman) is pleased to announce that Steven J. Rypma has joined the firm as an Attorney in its Real Estate Department. He is located in the firm’s Kalamazoo, Michigan, office. Honigman’s Kalamazoo office has grown significantly since opening in late 2008. The number of attorneys, professionals and staff members has grown from 14 to more than 40.

Rypma focuses his practice on commercial real estate transactions, including the purchase, sale, leasing and financing of properties. He represents buyers, sellers, investors and lending institutions.

Rypma was certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Green Associate (LEED, GA) in 2010 and has been the Chair of the Real Estate Committee for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Indiana Chapter since 2008. He is the second attorney in the firm’s Real Estate Department to be LEED certified, in addition to Partner Margaret E. Greene, who has earned a LEED, Accredited Professional designation. Honigman’s Real Estate Department has been named number one in the State by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business consecutively since 2004.

Rypma earned a J.D. from University of Denver Sturm College of Law, both a B.A., cum laude, in business administration and a B.S. in geology with an environmental emphasis from Hope College.

He is a member of the Indiana State Bar and his admission to the State Bar of Michigan is pending.

Rypma comes to Honigman from Ice Miller LLP.
