August 10, 2010

Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP (Honigman) is pleased to announce that the firm has been recognized as one of “Metropolitan Detroit’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” by the Michigan Business & Professional Association (MBPA). The firm was selected from more than 1,000 total nominees and is one of only four law firms named in the metropolitan area. The award was created to honor those companies that work with imagination and conviction to create organizational value through their human resource practices. Honigman was also named one of the “Best and Brightest” in 2004. In addition, the firm was named in 2008 and 2009 as one of the “50 Best Law Firms for Women” by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers, LLC.

“We are very pleased to be named one of ‘Metropolitan Detroit’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For,’” said Honigman’s Chairman and CEO David Foltyn. “It is gratifying to be recognized for the positive work environment that we strive to provide for our employees. Law is a business based on people and our employees are our greatest asset.”

The selection process, overseen by the MBPA, involved an extensive written employer questionnaire and a random survey of employees. A panel of judges, in conjunction with the Illinois Institute of Technology Center for Research and Service and Davenport University, examines each nominee statistically for quantitative data and scores the applicants using a point system. The companies receiving the highest points are selected as winners.

Applicants were evaluated on Compensation and Benefits; Employee Education and Development; Recognition and Retention; Recruitment and Selection; Communication; Diversity and Multi-Culturalism; Work-Life Balance; Community Initiatives; and Employee Engagement and Commitment.
