Denise J. Lewis, is among seven women recently selected by The Michigan Business & Professional Association (MBPA) to receive a "Women & Leadership in the Workplace" award

As written in the The Detroit Legal News on April 22, 2002:   Denise J. Lewis, senior partner in the Detroit-based law firm of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, is among seven women recently selected by The Michigan Business & Professional Association (MBPA) to receive a "Women & Leadership in the Workplace" award.  Lewis, member of the Real Estate Department, works out of the firm's Detroit office.   "The honorees we have chosen are not only accomplished leaders, they are role models for all women in business," said Jennifer Kluge, executive vice president and COO of the MBPA.   "Our association is committed to bringing these women to the forefront of our community by honoring their achievements, and serving to encourage new generations of women leaders through their example."   Lewis is a Life Member of the United States Judicial Conference, Sixth Circuit, served on the Michigan Supreme Court Task Force focusing on gender issues in the court, and has been on the faculty of the Michigan Institute for Continuing Legal Education since 1989.   She is a member of several boards, including the Governing Council for the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School Committee of Visitors.   An attorney with Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP for the past 18 years, Lewish earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Barnard College at Columbia University, a Master of Arts in political science from Wayne Sat University, and a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
