Honigman Launches Insurance Industry Practice Group

February 8, 2006
Honigman announces the formation of its new Insurance Industry Practice Group, an interdisciplinary group that draws on the collective experience and skill of the firm's attorneys in order to better serve clients who deal with insurance matters.   Alan S. Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, said, "We are always looking to develop in ways that will help us better serve our broad base of clients. Because so many of those clients are in, or work with, the insurance industry, we know that this new practice group will be a valuable resource for them."   The group's focus will include corporate transactions, taxation, policyholder disputes and regulation for large, sophisticated transactions as well as smaller, routine matters in both the commercial markets and the area of alternative risk financing.   "The Insurance Industry Practice Group is comprised of leading attorneys in various areas of the law," said practice group chair William O. Hochkammer. "Their combined experience will give our clients a decided advantage when engaging in insurance industry transactions of all sizes."   Attorneys from the firm's Insurance, Antitrust, Bankruptcy and Workouts, Corporate and Securities, Employee Benefits, Environmental, Healthcare, Intellectual Property and Trademark, Litigation, Real Estate, Regulatory, and Tax departments collaborate in executing these insurance-related transactions to provide targeted legal services to Honigman's clients.   Founded in 1948, Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP is based in Detroit with offices in Lansing and Oakland County.  The Firm represents more than 15,000 clients regionally, nationally and internationally.
