David M. Nafziger joins Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP as a partner in its Intellectual Property Department’s Patent Practice Group. He will be located in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office. He is one of six IP attorneys to join the firm this year and one of 15 since January 2015. Before becoming an attorney, Nafziger worked as an electrical engineer for a major aerospace company in its laser product development group. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His application to practice in Michigan is currently pending. Nafziger joins Honigman from the Troy, Michigan, office of Cantor Colburn LLP.

He earned a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Purdue University.

In recent surveys by BTI Consulting Group, a leading provider of strategic research to the legal community, Honigman was ranked among the top ten law firms in the country for patent work and in the top 5 percent of all law firms for IP Litigation. Honigman was also named on the list of "Most-Favored IP Departments," where one of the primary selection factors is customer service.

Honigman’s growing IP Department has experience in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret services, including search, procurement, enforcement and anti-counterfeiting. The professionals in the IP Department serve clients from large corporations to start-up companies and have experience in a wide-variety of industries.
