Honigman Attorney Presents at AHLA Institute of Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues

Kenneth R. Marcus, a senior partner in the Health Care department at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, LLP, recently presented at the annual American Health Lawyers Association Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues in Baltimore.

Marcus's seminar, "Provider Reimbursement Review Board Jurisdiction," discussed jurisdictional issues faced by hospitals and other health care providers pursuing payment appeals before the Medicare Provider Reimbursement Review Board (PRRB).  The seminar presented a primer on PRRB procedure and jurisdiction as well as covered frequently recurring issues and significant recent decisions that affect PRRB appeals.

Marcus has practiced health care law for more than twenty years and is a nationally recognized expert in Medicare and Medicaid payment appeal issues.  He has helped clients recover hundreds of millions of dollars before the Provider Reimbursement Review Board and the federal courts and is also frequently called upon by clients to provide payment planning advice in the transactional context.

Mr. Marcus received a BA from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (1971); a Masters in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan (1978); and a Juris Doctor degree, Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif, from Wayne State University (1984).
