Honigman’s Gregory J. DeMars Addresses Workout and Bankruptcy Strategies at Grubb & Ellis Event
Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP (Honigman) announced today that Gregory J. DeMars, Chair of the firm’s Workout, Foreclosure and Distressed Property Practice Group in the Real Estate Department, spoke at the “Commercial Real Estate Workout Strategies for Lenders and Servicers” forum sponsored by Grubb & Ellis. The event was held on June 23, 2009 at the Townsend Hotel.
As part of a panel, DeMars provided an overview of lender workout strategies and the bankruptcy process, including the judicial v. non-judicial foreclosure process and receiverships and bankruptcy workouts. His experience includes advising and representing individuals, businesses and lenders with regard to business workouts, joint ventures, multifamily debt and equity financing, real estate transactions and real estate financing through mortgage and other secured and asset-based lending.
DeMars also has successfully represented restaurant and hotel owners, food service providers and food and beverage distributors in creating new locations, businesses and companies, including the purchase and sale of exiting companies. In addition, he serves as Co-Chair of Honigman’s Affordable Housing Practice Group.
From 2007 to 2009, DeMars has been listed in Michigan Super Lawyers and in 2008 was named by Chambers USA in America’s Leading Lawyers recognized as among the top Real Estate practitioners in Michigan. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Wayne State University’s Law School, where he also received a M.P.A and a B.S.
