Overview

Grace is an attorney in the Trusts and Estates practice group. She focuses her practice on a spectrum of matters relevant to nonprofit organizations, estate planning and charitable giving. Her clients include private individuals, couples and families as well as public charities, nonprofits and corporate trustees.

  • Drafts specialized estate plans for married couples, unmarried couples, individuals and high-net-worth clients that achieve client goals, including probate avoidance, end-of-life care and life-sustaining treatment, and charitable giving
  • Counsels private individuals on creation of private foundations for foreign charitable activities
  • Provides various services to help qualify and organize nonprofit clients, including drafting articles and bylaws, and advises on governance and regulatory issues
  • Counsels public charities about securing and retaining tax-exempt status, including compliance issues
  • Represents charities with respect to fundraising and contested proceedings concerning charitable gifts under trust instruments and wills
  • Represents corporate trustees and other fiduciaries in probate and trust litigation
  • Counsels trustees and other fiduciaries about probate and trust administration, tax matters and probate litigation
  • Counsels individuals and families about guardianships and conservatorships matters and advises blended families and others about optimum estate planning options
  • Represents beneficiaries of estates and trusts
  • Holds a Certificate of Completion in the areas of probate and estate planning issued by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan
