Overview

Gabriel Bedoya is a partner in the Litigation Department who represents private equity firms, international manufacturers, and closely held businesses in complex commercial matters, shareholder disputes, and government investigations.

  • Represents private equity firms and their portfolio companies in derivative litigation, mergers and acquisitions litigation, and corporate internal investigations, with a particular focus on litigation and dispute resolution arising out of the purchase or sale of a company’s assets or stock and other liquidity events
  • Represents automotive manufacturing firms in commercial disputes with their suppliers, distributors, customers, and competitors
  • Represents public and privately held companies in shareholder disputes, including minority oppression, criminal or civil fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract
  • Represents companies and individuals in contract disputes, supply chain litigation, business torts, class action defense, and other high stakes litigation
  • Represents companies and individuals in matters connected to internal investigations and government investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Serves as the firm’s Hiring Partner for Associates and Summer Associates
  • Serves as co-leader of Honigman’s Emerging Companies Group
  • Serves as Global Chair of Interlaw’s Litigation Group

Representative Matters

  • Represented shareholders in both prosecuting and defending claims of minority oppression, breach of fiduciary duty, and related shareholder claims
  • Represented private equity clients in a variety of industries concerning claims of breach of contract and fraud
  • Served as Plaintiff's counsel to private equity company in lawsuit alleging 8-figures in damages arising from claims of fraud and business torts.  Obtained injunction and receivership, followed by judgment and an award of all litigation costs and fees, following a successful motion for terminating sanctions
  • Obtained favorable settlement for founders of agribusiness related to dispute filed in both federal and state court concerning claims of federal securities fraud, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract
  • Secured arbitration award for nationwide food distributor in breach of contract dispute with international distributor
  • Obtained dismissal of international federal contract dispute involving automotive industry suppliers
  • Obtained favorable settlement for art donor following a dispute filed in federal court related to the Visual Artists Rights Act
  • Obtained favorable settlement for digital marketing company in California state court concerning claims of breach of contract and breach of guaranty
  • Obtained favorable settlement for regional recycling company in federal court concerning claims of breach of contract
  • Obtained favorable settlement for global information-content and technology company in federal court concerning claims of breach of contract and quantum meruit
  • Successfully represented homebuilder in minority oppression suit filed against his co-founders and achieved a highly favorable settlement on first day of trial
  • Successfully represented individual in an SEC investigation arising from a referral from FINRA
  • Successfully defended nationwide restaurant chain in class action litigation alleging false advertising and negligence and won dismissal of all claims via successive motions for summary disposition
  • Obtained dismissal in federal court for medical device manufacturer related to claims for breach of contract, tortious interference, unjust enrichment, and fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Obtained favorable settlement for medical device manufacturer in federal court concerning claims for breach of contract and violation of Illinois’s Local Government Prompt Payment Act
