Overview

Brian Arnold is a partner with more than 12 years of experience advising clients on intellectual property, technology, data privacy and security, and commercial dispute matters. Brian’s practice is focused on all aspects of patent litigation in federal district court and before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) including pre-suit investigations, discovery, Markman hearings, expert witness discovery and testimony, and trial.

  • Advises clients on a broad spectrum of legal issues in the fields of software, digital mapping, location-based services, Internet, automotive systems technology, computer memory, microprocessors, smartphones and tablets, cellular networking, geographical coordinate systems, mechanical devices, and medical devices. Prior to law school, he worked as a software developer for more than eight years
  • Represents clients through the many facets of patent litigation, including electronic discovery, expert discovery, motion practice, preliminary injunctions and temporary restraining orders, Markman briefing and hearings, summary judgment, post-trial motions, claim construction, focus studies, and trial
  • Represents clients in Section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC)

Experience

  • Served as an extern for Judge Martin C. Ashman in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois
  • Worked for a Chicago-based law firm as a law clerk and technical advisor on patent prosecution and litigation matters while in law school
