Overview

Andy Boes is an intellectual property attorney and registered patent attorney. He counsels clients on intellectual property protection strategies, including consideration and explanation of protection options available under U.S. patent, trademark, and copyright laws.

  • Prepares and prosecutes provisional, nonprovisional, and design patent applications in various technologies, including industrial systems, climate control systems, fuel cells, robotics, and consumer products
  • Advises clients on patentability and infringement, including investigation and evaluation of prior art documents, relevant case law, and drafting opinions
  • Manages all aspects of registration of U.S. trademarks, including preparation, filing, and prosecution of applications and maintenance and renewal of registrations
  • Counsels clients on selection of trademarks, including trademark clearance searches and preparation of trademark clearance opinions
  • Assists with trademark litigation and USPTO trademark oppositions, including document review, conducting research, providing advice on specific legal issues, and preparation and filing of pleadings and exhibits
  • Assists with corporate acquisitions, including due diligence to identify intellectual property assets of acquired entities; preparation of assignments; and managing recording and legalization of trademark, patent, and copyright assignments worldwide
  • Brings a technical background, knowledge, and experience gained as a manufacturing and design engineer in the defense and heat-transfer industries
