Mr. Teger is a litigation attorney with a wide range of trial and appellate experience in federal and state courts and in arbitrations throughout the nation.  He concentrates his practice in the areas of construction litigation, real estate litigation, employment litigation, and commercial matters.

  • Possesses extensive experience in construction litigation on behalf of owners, general contractors and trade contractors and involving bonds, liens, Miller Act and "Little Miller Act" claims, bid protests, delay and acceleration claims and claims relating to defective work
  • Represents employers in lawsuits by employees for race, gender and age discrimination
  • Possesses experience in general commercial and real estate litigation
  • Named neutral arbitrator for the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority


Construction Litigation
  • Represented the owner of the Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan in a breach of contract lawsuit brought by the mechanical contractor who requested compensation for alleged extra work, impact (delay and acceleration), wrongful withholding of funds and quantum meruit due to numerous defects in the mechanical systems; the litigation resulted in one of the longest trials ever held in Oakland County Circuit Court
  • Represented the owner of a combined hotel and office tower project in an arbitration against claims brought by a general contractor for extra work and impact, with a counterclaim by the owner for delay claims, defects in the work and incomplete work; the matter also included a separate lien foreclosure lawsuit by the subcontractors
  • Represented the owner of a hospital in defending breach of contract, lien foreclosure and delay claims brought in court by a drywall contractor
  • Represented an apartment complex owner in defense of a claim brought by a general contractor in arbitration who sought money for unanticipated subsurface conditions, along with other extra work claims
  • Represented a general contractor in a breach of contract matter against an Ohio county and an engineer related to a water treatment plant project
  • Represented a general contractor against a mechanical contractor’s lawsuit related to an Ohio water treatment plant project that alleged unauthorized back charges, extra work and delay, and retainage; the general contractor brought a counterclaim for missing or improper work
  • Represented a general contractor in court in a matter related to a wastewater treatment plant project; cross- and counterclaims included unanticipated subsurface conditions and defects in the installed underground sewer pipe that were installed by the contractor
  • Represented a developer in a lawsuit against a contractor regarding a defective wastewater treatment plant
  • Represented a general contractor in an arbitration in Miami, Florida against claims by the owner for breach of contract for alleged defects in the construction of a multi-story shopping center in which many of the claims involved complicated structural engineering issues
  • Represented a general contractor against a claim by a sub-subcontractor on a clean room project at the University of Michigan for payment allegedly owed under the Little Miller Act bond; judgment for the sub-subcontractor was reversed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit
  • Represented a general contractor in a breach of contract action for work on a correctional facility
  • Represented general contractors in bid disputes on public projects, including several projects for the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department
  • Represented a general contractor against its surveyor in Florida on a highway project
  • Represented a general contractor in defense of a claim against a rebar subcontractor for a power plant project where allegations included breach of contract, changes to the schedule, fraud and misrepresentation and violation of the Builders Trust Fund Act
  • Represented a subcontractor against the general contractor and owner for work on an addition to the Cleveland Clinic where issues included proper concrete floor tolerances
  • Represented general contractor who was accused of violating the Michigan Builders’ Trust Fund Act by a Tennessee-based subcontractor with which it entered into a purchase order agreement that contained a Tennessee choice-of-law provision for a project that ultimately shipped products to Michigan; obtained a landmark victory before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, which found that there were insufficient contacts between the general contractor, the subcontractor, and the State of Michigan for the Trust Fund Act to apply
  • Represented two factory owners in two separate lawsuits against general contractors for defective concrete floors
  • Represented several hospitals in connection with the construction of their facilities and against claims by contractors for additional compensation
Real Estate Litigation
  • Represented several nationally known developers in various matters which concerned the existence of contractual relationships involving major projects
  • Represented the true owner against a financial institution in a case where a skillful felon forged various documents to make it appear that he owned the true owner's apartment complex and then borrowed millions of dollars and recorded a mortgage against the property
Commercial Litigation
  • Represented a nationally known turkey processor in a product recall case against a cold storage facility
  • Obtained a court order "evicting" a patient from a local hospital
  • Had a ship "arrested" (to enforce a maritime mortgage)
  • Represented one of the big three auto companies in dealer franchising cases throughout the country
