Mr. Meyers is a business litigator with a national practice focused on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and corporate governance disputes, as well as on complex financial, intellectual property, technology, and appellate litigation. Prior to joining Honigman, Mr. Meyers spent several years as a software consultant in the health care industry.

  • Represents publicly and privately held entities, funds, directors, and executives in actions arising out of the purchase or sale of business interests, alleged violations of state and federal securities laws, contractual claims, and business torts such as fraud and breach of fiduciary duties

  • Investigates and litigates complex disputes involving allegations of financial malfeasance, diversion of business opportunities, trade-secret misappropriation, and unfair competition

  • Strong background in technology, health care, finance, and business-services industry segments

  • Represented a private equity firm in the defense of multiple securities, fiduciary duty, fraud and negligence claims asserted by various investors seeking nearly $50 million in total damages
  • Counsel for plaintiff web-engagement company in high damages copyright, trade-secret misappropriation, and unfair competition case involving extensive international discovery and complex software issues
  • Counsel for major automobile manufacturer in $500 million appeal for recovery of interest on advance federal income tax remittances
  • Lead counsel for defendant broker-dealer in multi-million dollar action alleging breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, and conversion based on accusations of financial advisor’s misconduct
  • Trial and appellate counsel for a high-tech manufacturing portfolio company in a $4 million royalty dispute involving extensive electronic discovery issues and an accounting before a special master
  • Lead counsel for a mining company in $25 million breach of lease action involving complex hydrogeology and geology issues
  • Defended the CEO of a closely held financial-services company through trial and appeal in litigation involving claims of shareholder oppression, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty

  • Counsel for a prosthetics and medical equipment company in a multi-million dollar trademark and post-closing adjustment action arising out of divestiture of a line of business
  • Lead counsel for investment bank and broker-dealer in a FINRA arbitration involving trade secret, partnership and contractual issues
  • Counsel for private acquirer of a multi-state fast food franchisor in the defense of a $3.5 million action involving contractual and business tort claims
  • Represented a Fortune 100 petroleum company against shareholder claims for declaratory and injunctive relief
  • Lead counsel for defendant racing corporation in shareholder action for oppression, breach of fiduciary duty, and books and records
  • Counseled a clearing broker in the defense of numerous claims arising out of an introducing broker’s unauthorized trading scheme
  • Lead counsel for a major HMO in a series of contractual disputes with several physician groups
  • Obtained multi-million dollar settlement as lead counsel to plaintiff investor in fraud, embezzlement, and fiduciary-duty action against former partner in health care business
  • Lead counsel for engineering firm in multi-party action involving a complex kickback scheme
  • Counsel for major physician group in tortious-interference action involving complex peer review and HIPAA issues
  • Lead counsel for Tier 1 supplier in subpoena contest for source code and engineering documentation in connection with multi-party patent infringement actions
