Overview

Mr. Rothstein has a national real estate practice with clients located throughout the United States engaging in transactions from coast to coast.  He represents a wide range of real estate owners, operators and users in various real estate and other business transactions. His clients include shopping center, hotel, multifamily, self-storage and office building owners and operators, including publicly traded real estate investment trusts, as well as some of the largest privately owned real estate operators in the United States.

  • Assists clients with acquisitions, dispositions and financings, joint ventures, syndications and investment fund creation; major tenant leasing for both landlords and tenants; loan workouts and restructurings with lenders, servicers and special servicers; creation and negotiation of management and other operating agreements for lodging clients; specialized restaurant and other leasing transactions and construction and related contracting for lodging clients
  • Represents shopping center and other REITs in negotiating credit and loan agreements

Experience

  • Represented Phillips Edison & Company affiliates in the acquisition and financing of more than 250 shopping centers in 37 states since 2003 and in the sale of more than 35 shopping centers since 2009
  • Represented Pebblebrook Hotel Trust in acquisitions valued at approximately $1 billion since 2010
  • Represented Pebblebrook Hotel Trust in securitized loans, loan assumptions and unsecured loans valued at approximately $1 billion since 2011, including the then-largest single unsecured loan ever made to a lodging REIT in 2012
